With summer quickly approaching, new and exciting events are taking place just minutes from Orillia’s downtown core. Make sure to check out some of Orillia’s most highly-anticipated shows and festivals this May. From musicals to cosplay, there is something happening for everyone.

Poison

Location: Casino Rama Resort

If family-friendly musicals aren’t your thing then make sure you check out Poison who will be performing together for the first time in five years. Poison will be putting on a show you have to see to believe that will feature some of their greatest hits including “Every Rose Has a Thorn” and “Nothin’ but a Good Time”. For only $75 you’ll be attending the event of the year that’s sure to blow you away.

A Forever Frozen Story

Location: Orillia Opera House

Date: Sunday, May 21st at 7:00 pm

For those who never want winter to end, here’s a way to stay cold during the warmer month of May. Enter the enchanting world created by Tohu-Bohu Productions and witness a mystical musical based on the story “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen. According to the Downtown Orillia website, you will be “Taking part in a fantastic journey to the land of winter, a colorful adventure filled with original music, done in the most spectacular staging and presented in front of a dazzling décor”. Grab your ticket and snowshoes and head on down to the Opera House to witness up close a must-see event, perfect for the entire family.

Comic-Con

Location: Barnfield Point Recreation Centre

Date: Sunday, May 21st at 7:00 pm
Calling all comic book lovers, Orillia will be holding their first ever Comic-Con convention. According to the official Orillia Comic-Con website, this event offers “100 exhibitors that cater to a wide spectrum of interests including comic books, magazines, toys, games, movies, television, anime, manga, cosplay, artwork, sketches and apparel plus much more”. This anticipated show will also feature a day long Dungeons and Dragon tournaments, so be sure to bring your game face.

Streets Alive

Location: Downtown Orillia

Date: Saturday, June 17th

Streets Alive is one of the most beloved summer events in Orillia. Hosted in the downtown core, people come from far and wide to experience this outdoor art festival. This exciting event includes street art, music, and performance by some of Orillia’s best, and runs all summer long.
